First Week Woes

Posted by Scott on 10 Apr 2010 / 0 Comment

All in all I must say this week was incredible (in a good way).  However, that being said, we were provided with plenty of opportunities for character building, turning the other cheek, and general blind optimism this week.  It’s bound to go that way sometimes… especially for folks taking on huge plans with little to [...]

Spring Wildflowers

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 08 Apr 2010 / 2 Comments

Spring flowers are tiny, but no less beautiful than their larger summer counterparts! At Moosicorn Ranch, Buttercups seem to be the first to emerge, followed by Glacier Lilies and Woodland Stars.

Finally Home

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 06 Apr 2010 / 6 Comments

As we were loading up the moving truck on Saturday in the rain and wind, we wondered if heading over the summit the next day was going to be a safe option. At one point Snoqualmie Pass was flat out closed. Fortunately, though, the winds carried the storm through quickly. We watched the WSDOT site [...]

A Year of Flux

Posted by Scott on 27 Mar 2010 / 4 Comments

Moving to Moosicorn has not been a seamless process. For over a year now, we have been living in a constant state of flux. Filmed in Spokane Movie Marathon

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 19 Mar 2010 / 25 Comments

In January of 2010 we embarked on a quest to see every movie filmed in the Spokane area. It all started when I stumbled across the poetry of Sherman Alexie. I don’t remember exactly how my incessant internet trolling brought me to “Powwow Ghazal,” but I’m sure glad it did. Alexie’s poem “Powwow Ghazal” is [...]

Sneak Peek at the Barn House Interior

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 19 Mar 2010 / 1 Comment

This is the interior of the Barn House so far. The lower level contains the entry, laundry room and shop while the upper level (pictured here) is a two bedroom home. The roof is extremely sloped so the ceiling is 14.5 feet tall at the peek and 5 feet at its shortest side. While the [...]

Bamboo Trim

Posted by Scott on 18 Mar 2010 / 4 Comments

We’ve been debating how to trim out the Barn/House when the time comes.  With the Marmoleum flooring, stainless fixtures and other industrial accents we’re going to have a very modern look.  Traditional wood trim just didn’t seem to fit the space or the ecological imperatives of our construction well enough. Then I discovered Bamboo Plywood.  [...]
