New Wildlife on the Game Camera

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 16 Sep 2012 / 0 Comment

A handsome, 10 point whitetail buck visited the camera… A doe with twin fawns… And…drum roll… Elk Butt!!! We’ve never seen elk around here before, so this is very exciting. Maybe next time we’ll get a photo of the rest of this beautiful animal!

Backpacking to Snow Peak Cabin

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 15 Sep 2012 / 2 Comments

Even though we live in the woods, we still love exploring other wild places. Last week, we backpacked in to Snow Peak Cabin. The rustic cabin (which is far swankier than our living situation was during construction, by the way) is located in the Colville National Forest near Republic, WA. We were warm and cozy inside when [...]

Harvesting Honey: Part 1

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 08 Sep 2012 / 1 Comment

Today we removed our honey super. We took two frames of honey for ourselves (thanks, ladies!). The remaining seven frames we stored in the freezer as a honey bank. We’ll use the frames in the honey bank for winter feeding and to give our new hive next year a boost. The hive looked great…especially considering [...]

Game Camera Update

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 03 Sep 2012 / 1 Comment

Moosicorn Made Now Exists!

Posted by Scott on 02 Sep 2012 / 0 Comment

Now that the house is pretty much done and I’ve replaced nearly all of our furniture with stuff we’ve designed and built ourselves… well… I’m running out of legitimate excuses to create these things I enjoy so much! I need an outlet. We [...]

Crazy Fresh Farmers Market

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 31 Aug 2012 / 0 Comment

I stopped for a coffee at the Farmers Market and Bakery in Deer Park today. Great latte, by the way. But what was even more awesome was the sale that took place before me. A woman came in to buy carrots so the shop keeper went out back and dug up the carrots for her. [...]

1000 Eggs!

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 09 Aug 2012 / 6 Comments

We reached 1,000 eggs today! The 1,000th egg happened to be this tiny, white Dorking egg. Our new Dorking hens just started laying a few weeks ago. Our first egg was laid on December 23, 2011. 230 days later, and our chickens have laid 1,000 eggs!   Way to go, ladies! To thank them for their contribution, we [...]

Meet Ian

Posted by Scott on 06 Aug 2012 / 8 Comments

Here’s a little IM exchange I had recently with Ian from CenturyLink, our home-phone provider. This exchange highlights some not so elegant corporate systems and perhaps my increased amount of free time. Thank you for using CenturyLink.com. A CenturyLink Sales and Service Consultant will be with you in just a moment. Your account information is [...]
