Ok… this little experiment has been really fun, but I’m still dialing it in. And so far, we have yet to catch a silkie laying an egg. We’re wondering if they are laying at all yet, and if they’re not… that means we’ve had a lot of days where all 8 of the others have delivered. :)
Here are two videos for you.
The first video is from last Wednesday (2/8/2012). At that point the camera was set to go off at 1pm. This ended up being way too early. We only caught only 4 eggs on camera during what turned out to be an 8 egg day. Subsequently I’ve changed the timer to go off at 3pm.
Not sure what happened Thursday and Friday… but no videos those days…
This one is from Saturday. There are some odd green and pink bars that show up in some shots… I have no idea why, but will investigate if they show up again in Monday’s video. Unfortunately the auto-timer wasn’t so auto on Sunday, so no video that day.
2 new videos! Is there no satisfying that man’s insatiable appetite for chicken footage? Next visit… let’s put him on a cot out in the coop.
Silkies lay cream colored eggs that are a lot smaller than regular chicken eggs. They may be the same size now as your other hens if they are still laying pullet sized eggs. I attached a photo of our eggs. The silkie is the small one on the far left at the end. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_u0i0JlJjLXc/TSfQ9YwplVI/AAAAAAAAAl4/wiLNbJJgawQ/s1600/P1050409.JPG
Your Dad is a little disapointed over the lack of footage. Keep trying. Love, Mom
