Spring Wildflowers

Posted by Mrs. Moosicorn on 08 Apr 2010 / 2 Comments

Spring flowers are tiny, but no less beautiful than their larger summer counterparts! At Moosicorn Ranch, Buttercups seem to be the first to emerge, followed by Glacier Lilies and Woodland Stars. All are a welcome return of color to the landscape after winter. I was pleased to see the re-appearance of some blooms I remember from last spring like the Bonneville Shooting Star and I was very excited to spot some new ones like the Leafy Bluebells. After a few days of wildflower hunting, my eyes are in permanent macro mode. I can’t wait for the next round of flowers to push up through the thawing ground.

Sagebrush Buttercup (Ranunculus glaberrimus)

Glacier Lily (Erythronium gradiflorum)

Woodland Star (Lithophragma glabrum)

Bonneville Shooting Star (Dodecatheon conjugens)

Leafy Bluebells (Mertensia longiflora)

Yellow Bells (Fritillaria pudica)

Those flowers are beautiful! Tulips are the first to pop up around here in Fargo and it always warms my heart to see them after a long, cold winter! :)
