Is it really February? Are we sure? I’m thinking it’s springtime!

Scott, my mom and myself spent a beautiful Sunday at Moosicorn last weekend…emphasis on the Sun in Sunday! The sky was blue with only the occasional little wispy cloud. This entire winter has been especially mild, in fact. Visiting the property this same time last year would have necessitated the use of snow shoes, but this weekend we strolled on in wearing  jeans, sweatshirts and sunglasses.

Although we had things to do inside the building, I was reluctant to participate in any of those tasks because I wanted to be outside. The moment we got there, I darted off (camera in hand) to take a look, feel and smell around. There were chickadees singing sweetly “chick-a-dee-dee-dee” and the air smelled crisp and clean. We did end up getting some important things done in the barn. We measured and taped out a bathroom layout that I think we’ve decided is not going to work and measured for a sofa that won’t be fitting either. They’re not extremely disappointing revelations, however.  After all, it’s better to figure it out now rather than when you’re hammering in the last nail or half way up the stairs with an over-sized sofa on your shoulders!

After we did some work in the barn, we set up a couple of  trail cameras. Hopefully, we’ll get a glimpse of some critters passing through. We set the cameras up in spots near game trails. One camera was placed at the junction of two heavily used trails where we’ve seen tracks from both the hoofed and pawed variety. Next time we visit, we’ll check the cameras to see what we’ve got. I’m looking forward to seeing the photos…hopefully we set these things up correctly!
