It’s a New Year

Posted by Scott on 02 Jan 2010 / 0 Comment

It’s January 2nd 2010 and this year is going to be very exciting for Al and I. Starting off a bit slow, or at least this morning it is. Nearly noon and I’m just getting around to my first cup of coffee with breakfast still in the planning stages. The Northwest drear has a way of keeping one in bed, though I managed to roust myself to let Sadie out around 9, I found my way back to the covers and spent the rest of the morning finishing off Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman and listening to Al make cute soft stirring noises in her sleep.

We’ll be moving out to the farm in a few months to spend spring and summer finishing up the innards of the Barn/House. Though at the moment I’m more excited I believe for the writing shack to be complete and to be working away on the next mediocre American novel. That much Neil Gaiman first thing in the morning tends to have that effect doesn’t it? (Truly spectacular read… give it a go sometime if you have the chance.)

Well there is planning to be done. We’re going to try and sneak in a soggy hike at some point today, but for the most part I’m going to be lining up the plan for the mechanicals in the Barn/House today. I’ll start out listing all the systems we’d like to include… a bold list of shiny modern conveniences… we’ll whittle some things out and stretch the budget to keep a few in. After that, we’ll make rough sketches of where all of these wondrous things will plug-in, get mounted to or otherwise find their station then begins the listing of components. If we have time I hope to post all of the initial plans for these systems tomorrow.

That’s all for now… I wish you a spectacular year. There’s a lot of potential there, use it wisely.
